Citizens
for Good Government – No on Measure A
SpecialInterestWatch
can’t say enough about opposing Measure A. Changing to a directly elected Mayor
only opens our City government to more opportunities for special interest money
to buy our elected officials. If Measure A passes, Sunnyvale may have to
hold frequent special elections, each one costing upwards of $400,000
apiece, depending on the time of year and on what other elections may occur at
the same time. The additional cost to the taxpayers to hold these extra
elections just isn’t worth it in this era of limited budgets. Conveniently, if
measure A passes, then current termed out politicians would be able to run for
two more terms, giving them up to 16 years in office. Just note that the other
side to this issue, Yes on Measure A, is heavily tied to special interests.
